The mens' national soccer teams from Belize and Mexico will square off in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match at Reliant Stadium on Sunday, June 15, 2008. The match will be the first FIFA World Cup qualifier to be played in Houston, and is the first of a home-and-home series between the nations as they begin the quest to compete in the FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa in 2010.

Belize will be the home team in a home-and-home series between the countries with the second game scheduled for June 21th in Mexico. It's the second round of World Cup qualifying with the teams looking to remain in competition for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Mexico had a bye in the first round and Belize beat St. Kitts and Nevis with an aggregate score of 4-2 to advance. It'll be the first time Belize will play in the city and Mexico will be making its sixth trip to Houston.
