Press Release August 29, 2011

The Belize Male National ‘A’ Selection will be traveling to Grenada tomorrow to play the second round of the World Cup Qualifiers. The game is scheduled to play on the 2nd September, 2011. The 18 players who made the cut are as follows:

The Belize vs Guatemala game will be played in Belize on the 6th September, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in Belmopan at the FFB Field. Tickets are now available for $30 at the following locations:

Belize City – Infotel International Ltd.
Orange Walk – Shell One Stop
Dangriga – Kush International Salon Barber Shop
Belmopan – FFB Office
Roaring Creek – Garbutt Gastation

Tickets WILL NOT be sold at the stadium on Game Day. Limited tickets available; get your tickets early.

All clubs across the country interested in forming part of top-level football are invited to a very important meeting at the FFB Headquarters in Belmopan on Saturday August 27th at 11:00 am. Topics to be discussed include the criteria for acceptance in the league, kick-off date, and other topics. Kindly make every effort to be on time.
 

World Cup Qualifiers 2014

September 2, 2011

Belize 3 - Grenada 0

Belize defeated Geneda 3-0 in in St. George's, Grenada af the Grenada National Stadium. The goals are as follows: Deon McCaulay(11') Harrison Roches (35') Deon McCaulay (89').

The FFB has received clearance from CONCACAF to play its home game on 6th September, 2011 against Guatemala at the FFB Field in Belmopan.  This is an accomplishment for the FFB because there were many obstacles to play this game here.  Remember FIFA determines where you play.

The Belize National Team leaves for Grenada to play on the 2nd September, 2011 and returns on the 4th September, 2011 to play here on the 6th September, 2011at 4:00 p.m. against Guatemala.  Tickets will be sold at $30.00 before the game.  No tickets will be sold at the gate.  Come early to support the National Team.

The FFB has received notice from FIFA that the Government of Belize will leave the FFB to do its work without interference from GOB.  In a spirit of sports, the FFB signed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Ministry of Sports which basically guarantees the autonomy of the FFB.

Press Release - May 18, 2011

National Team

The National team is preparing for the World Cup 2014 Eliminations.  Belize has been paired with Montserrat in the Pre Would Cup Qualifying.  For the last two weeks, some twenty two (22) players have been working out.  This is the third week and a selected group will soon be picked.  Tentative dates of play are in June or early July.

U-16

The U-16 group of selected players begin their workout this weekend in Belmopan for the districts of Belize, Orange Walk and Corozal.  The Camp is called in on Saturday 21st May at 9:00 a.m. and finishes on Sunday 22nd May at 4:00 p.m.  Here is the list of players:

Press Release - May 9, 2011

BPFL
The Football Federation has intervened the BPFL.  Some decisions were made by BPFL officials that go against the principles of Fair Play and football.  The FFB will announce shortly which two teams will be playing in the finals if certain managers continue to go against the spirit of fair play.

FFB Stadium
A FIFA Team was in Belize over the weekend to inspect the FFB Stadium facilities.  Some recommendations for improvement were made to improve and make the facility FIFA and CONCACAF approved.

Lights – The intensity of lights should be 800 Lox, we are at 750.  Minor adjustments are needed for certification to Champions League.

Seating – Numbering of seats are need for FIFA.

All in all, the adjustments will have to be made if we are to fulfil our dreams of playing World Cup games and Champion’s League here at home.

New League
Plans for the formation of a united league in top level football continued on the right path as a meeting was held at FFB headquarters on Saturday 7th May, 2011.  The management committee will soon be making statements.

   

2014 World Cup Qualifiers

Men’s Competition

The FFB has now been officially informed that Montserrat will be our rival in the first round of competition for the 2014 World Cup Preliminaries.  Both countries have until the 17th July, 2011 to complete the two game series.  The National Team selection started training last week.  Training continues this week so all players are hereby reminded to show up for training Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

   

CONCACAF Congress

CONCACAF held its Congress from the 1st – 3rd May in Miami, Florida, USA.  Representing Belize were President – Dr. Bertie Chimilio, General Secretary – Mrs. Marguerite Hulse and Executive Committee Member – Mr. John Moody.

The highlight of the Congress was the re-election of Mr. Jack Warner of OCNCACAF for another four year term; 2011 – 2015.  Present at the Congress of CONCACAF was Mr. Joseph Sepp Blatter – FIFA President.  This is the 50th year of existence of CONCACAF.
