World Cup Qualifiers 2014

The World Cup Qualifiers for 2014 began with a bang for Belize.  In the first game of the 2014 Qualifiers, Belize defeated Montserrat 5-2 at the Ato Bolton Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago with Deon McCaulay scoring a hat trick.

The return match should have taken place on the 19th June, 2011 however due to government interference; we were suspended from FIFA thus the postponement of the game.  As President of the FFB Executive, I worked hard on FIFA to get us re-instated.

After weeks of back and forth correspondence, the ban was provisionally lifted thus allowing us to play our second match this time in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.  This time, Belize won 3-1.  This qualified us to the second round where on 30th July, 2011, we were drawn in a group with Guatemala, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada.  The first game comes up on the 2nd September, 2011 in Grenada and the second game is on the 6th September, 2011 in Belize.

Belizeans come out to support our home boys despite it being played on a Tuesday evening at 4:00 p.m.  Ask your employer, your boss, your school for time off and come support.

For the love of the sport, support.  FFB moving forward with the game.

Dr. Bertie Chimilio
President
